Established in 1936 by the Cascade Area Council on Pine Ridge Lake overlooking Mt. Jefferson, Camp Pioneer is a beautiful location with the national wilderness area almost encircling the camp.
Camp Pioneer offers outstanding opportunities to make your summer camp experiences unforgettable. Whether you decide to splash (or float!) in the pristine glacier-fed waters of Pine Ridge Lake, go on one of many outbound hikes through the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness area which cradles the property to the east, or just view the inspiring Cascade mountains your experience will be one unique to Pioneer. Along the way we’ll help you hone your scout skills and talents in the Scoutcraft, Handicraft, and Trail to First Class programs to work your way up to Eagle rank, archery and riflery are available too.
And if you’re looking for something a little different than our typical residential camp experience we’ve also got you covered: Become a Cascade Ranger to take part in nearby hikes, climbs, spelunking, and overnighters under the stars. For those seeking higher adventure join the Trek Program and set off on a 9-day backpacking trip, exploring the Cascade wilderness gaining backpacking experience, Wilderness First-Aid, Leave-No-Trace certification, The 50 Miler award, and wilderness leadership training.
Camp Pioneer’s remote and sub-alpine location only allows the camp’s to be accessed and available to summer and early fall seasons. Winter snow blocks road access and covers the camp into June, returning in mid-October. Troops that wish to weekend camp at Pioneer are able to do so during the month of September.
Summer Camp Reservations
Beginning with the 2016 summer camp season, all summer camp reservations will be managed using the new Tentaroo reservation system. When making a reservation, it is important that you use your unit's Tentaroo account and not a personal one. Fees: $320/scout. $140/adult (1 free adult for every 8 scouts with a maximum of 3 free adults).

Non Summer Reservations
Available for weekend camping September through mid-June weather permitting due to road access. Reservations and tour permits are required. There is no personnel onsite for weekend use. The camp consists of several tent sites (personal tents required), and program shelters.

For any use by a group other than a Scout-chartered pack, troop, team, crew, ship, or post: Please begin by contacting Juliana Helwig (503.226.3423 or email@example.com) to inquire about open dates, facilities, and fees. All facilities carry a rental charge.
Guest groups are required to provide a deposit, certificate of insurance, hold-harmless agreement and rental contract. Details about these forms will be provided by Juliana as part of the reservation process.
