Camp Meriwether is located on the scenic Oregon Coast, one of the only Boy Scout camps to feature an ocean beach. Tall evergreens and plentiful wildlife abound. Blue skies and warm coastal breezes attract many Scouts to this premier Scouting camp each year.
Camp Meriwether is Cascade Pacific Council's oldest Summer Camp. Purchased in 1926 from the Chamberlain Family, Camp Meriwether replaced Camp Chinidere which burned down in 1925. Meriwether is located on the Oregon coast south of Cape Lookout with beautiful beach and cove.
The mighty Pacific Ocean provides the dramatic backdrop for this full service camp with 2 miles of private beach. The camp includes Lake Chamberlain, a fresh-water lake for swimming and boating, a trading post, a .22 rifle range, a shotgun range, an archery range, a black powder range, scoutcraft, handicraft and an ecology study center. For experienced campers, Meriwether offers high adventure hikes and a rock climbing program on a 44' tower.
Camp Merwether is truly a destination summer camp for Boy Scouts during summer months. This traditional camp offers a wide variety of merit badges, including Oceanography, Trail to First Class, and other programs. Older Scouts enjoy climbing and rapelling, along with outbound hikes and beach exploration.
