Welcome to Scouting! Scouting offers a great chance for adults to work with youth as role models, and to impact a new generation. Every adult can use some help as a role model, and Every Youth Deserves a Trained Leader. Every adult involved in Scouting should be trained. Here are the simple steps: The new leader begins with a short self-paced introduction (known as Fast Start) to familiarize him/herself with Scouting terms. Then he/she participates in one course online called "This is Scouting" . "This is Scouting" replaces New Leader Essentials as a required course for Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Venturing volunteers to earn the "Trained" leader emblem. Then he'she will take one course in person called Leader Specific Training. This training shares information about the position that they will be volunteering in within their unit. Once you've completed the steps through Leader Specific Training you're considered Trained! Supplemental courses can come later... Let's begin! You will need to create a My Scouting account that will ensure accurate tracking of your training and much more!
