Maria Velez - Thunderbird District Executive

          Maria Velez joins the Cascade Pacific Council, Boy Scouts of America with a strong commitment to service. Starting with her most recent work, Maria supervised an afterschool program for Campfire Columbia building relationships in a predominant Latino community while creating fun and healthy activities for at middle school aged students. Before Campfire, she had the honor of volunteering for four years with the United States Peace Corps. Her work in the Republic of Georgia and Nicaragua allowed her to write grants in order to develop community based projects along with training approximately a hundred teachers on classroom management and new teaching methodologies. Maria is looking forward to applying her ten years of non-profit experience to cultivate new relationships, support, and promote Scouting in the Thunderbird District.

 


Erick Simmons - Thunderbird District Director


Simmons          Erick Simmons and his wife Kathy have been married for eight years and are the proud parents of two boys, Noah who is three and a half and AJ who is two. Erick has been working for the Scouts for six years now. In addition to serving as the District Director for the Thunderbird District, Erick spent the past summer as the Camp Director for Butte Creek at Gilbert Ranch. "I've seen firsthand the good that Scouting can do. I grew up Scouting and I've served as an Assistant Scoutmaster, a member the Troop Committee, as well as helping out with the Order of the Arrow. I enjoy serving alongside the members of the Thunderbird District. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with me if there is anything that I can do for you."
