Hello Thunderbird District,
My name is Virginia Molina and I am the newly appointed Senior District Executive for Thunderbird. I come from Wapiti District where I served for 2 years, and Sequoia Council down in Fresno, California prior to that where I served in Kings River District for 3 years. I am excited to start helping you all achieve all your Scouting goals and am happy to help wherever I am needed. Please feel free to contact me from now on regarding Thunderbird questions or concerns you may have and I will do my best to get you what you need.
I realize Thunderbird has gone through a lot of changes in recent years in regards to DE's but I am ready to hit the ground running and anticipate being in the area for quite some time. Now starting my 5th year in Scouting, I know I can help impact the district in a positive way. I see there are some similarities to the membership size and Friends Of Scouting goals of Thunderbird and those areas where I have worked in the past. Last year Wapiti district was down 300+ youth at the beginning of the year and I am happy to say we reached membership by +5 at the end of October. I was also able to involve many Hispanic families down in California as I am bi-lingual and believe we should extend the Scouting program to anyone interested.
I am a first-generation Mexican American, born and raised in Visalia, California and I graduated from Humboldt State University in 2007 with a degree in Recreation Administration and a minor in Business. I love living in Portland and enjoy all the beautiful scenery the Pacific Northwest has to offer. I thank you all for your patience while I navigate these new territories and would appreciate any insight or helpful advice you would like to lend to me. Please feel free to contact me by e-mail, phone or text. I look forward to meeting and working with all of you towards a successful Scouting year in 2015. Thank you!
Yours in Scouting,
Senior District Executive
