SCOUTING FOR FOOD

In Oregon and southwest Washington, more than 160,000 children under age 17 received emergency food assistance last year. Last year, a total of more than 400,000 individuals received emergency food boxes from Oregon Food Bank hunger relief agencies. Demands for emergency food are expected to increase as many low-income people experience a loss of Federal assistance. Meanwhile, each year, Oregon Food Bank receives fewer donations from national food manufacturers and U.S. Government programs. The non-perishable food collected during food drives, such as Scouting for Food, makes a big difference in the community’s ability to feed hungry children and their families. Food drive food is of particular value because of its high nutritional value.

 Scouting For Food Update

SST & CPC are completely out of bags for Scouting for Food on Dec 3rd and several units have not received any.  If your unit has extra bags please reply to me via email at SunsetTrailService@gmail.com.

As of Noon today there were still units signing up to participate, so please check the 'SST SFF 2011' Google map before collecting in an area that does not show assigned to your unit.  The map will be finalized on Thursday as there are units that have not registered or that are adjusting their collection area. There are no area assignments being changed.  Please confirm your area assignment.

Here is the link to the Google map: http://g.co/maps/3ej44

Drop site locations are indicated on the map and on the attached file.  Please plan on delivering the food your unit collects to the drop site location that has been assigned.  Below is information for each drop site.  Please email the drop site coordinator, coping me,  with an approximate time your unit will be delivering.  If your unit will not be delivery to the assigned drop site location please email me the location your unit will be delivering to.  If time allows I will add unit drop site to to the area assignment on the SST SFF 2011 map.

Dear Scouting for Food Drop Site Coordinators,

Please confirm that the information on the SST SFF 2011 map, http://g.co/maps/3ej44, and listed below is correct.  Please send change to me at SunsetTrailService@gmail.com no later than Noon Thursday, Dec 1st.
