Sunset Trail Journey to Excellence

Journey to Excellence

The district has prepared Journey to Excellence reports for each unit in the district. The status reflects what is known as of September 8, 2012. The district has filled in some of the fields to save some time for volunteers. The rest of the fields need to be filled in by unit leaders at the end of the year when your form is turned in by December 31.

The fields the district is able to provide data for:

1) Membership Retention: This is the percentage of youth retained from December 31, 2011 - January 1, 2012.

2) Membership Growth: This is the percentage difference from the number of registered youth as of the date of the JTE report, and the number of youth your unit ended the year with on December 31, 2011. To determine how many registered youth you have in your unit, acquire a current roster from your council either by request, or by logging into the Internet Advancement website. Most units should see their units grow with fall recruitment.

3) Camping Attendance: The data for this field comes from unit reports of independent camps (as well as out-of-council camp attendance), and attendance reports from our own council camps. Note: LDS Troops, all teams, and all crews- it is impossible to know without input from you how many youth camped in the troop, team, and crew since most accompany and register for camp under the troop's identity. Just supply this data at the end of the year when you submit your form.

4) Advancement: The data for this field is supplied when units purchase patches from the Nor'West Scoutshop, and turn in an advancement report. We are only able to update records for registered youth only. Many units turn in advancement reports for youth who still need to be registered. This can be deflating your score.

Note:

The use of these reports is to give units a guide. In order to fit these reports on 8 1/2" x 11" paper, we needed to paraphrase certain fields in the bronze, silver, and gold collumns.
