Scoutmasters messageThe Centennial Celebration of Scouting in AmericaGreetings all, and welcome to the 2010 Cascade Pacific Council Jamboree! This event has been in the planning for over a year, and I want everyone of you to have a GREAT time. Looking around, you will see Scouts from across the CPC and hopefully from other nations as well. There are: Webelos, Boy Scouts, Venture Scouts, Sea Scouts, Girl Scouts, Explorers and all manner of visitors: US Airforce, US Coast Guard, US Army, Sea Cadets, local fire fighters and Mountaineering Companies, to name but a few. Each of them is here to have a great time and to help you… have a great time. You, your unit, and your district have been invited in the past several months to provide suggestions, comments and advice, and we your Staff, have listened. There are a great number of exciting events and activities planned and this commemorative booklet will help you in finding them. Keep it safe and keep it close, and years from now when you’re looking back at 2010, you can open these pages with a smile and remember the great time you had on the banks of the Columbia. During this weekend, we want you to play safe and play hard. If you have any questions or concerns, the staff is here to help you. Follow along with the enclosed schedule, rules and aerial-photo-map and you won’t go wrong. Safety and Fun are our primary concerns, however there are a few rules you will need to follow: 1) Follow the Guide to Safe Scouting AT ALL TIMES, this includes Youth Protection Procedures (never be alone with a youth or adult) 2) The Lake & Columbia River banks (within 15 feet) are OFF LIMITS, unless you’re accompanied by at least 1 adult (absolutely NO SWIMMING!). 3) The Hwy 30 (south) side of the Lake is OFF LIMITS (except for the Skills Course) 4) There is only ONE approved Rail Road crossing point to reach the Sea Scout Base On the Columbia River (this is located next to the Assembly stage) 5) In the event you hear 3 loud blasts (it will be repeated) from an Air Horn, gather immediately at the Flag Assembly Area for instructions. While you’re here at ScoutJAM, try and visit as many of our guest stations as possible, a lot of folks have taken a lot of time and effort to make this weekend great… lets personally thank each of them for coming out, and putting the Outing In Scouting. Sincerely, Eric “Capt” Stone III
