    Annual Eagle Scout Recognition Banquet

District NewsEach spring the Annual Eagle Scout Recognition Banquet recognizes the achievements of the Cascade Pacific Council’s finest youth members.

Each new Eagle Scout is invited to a first-class event honoring the approximately 600 Scouts who earn the rank of Eagle Scout rank each year. Eagle Scout is the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America. Only 3 out of every 100 that join the program achieve the coveted award.

Many famous leaders have earned the rank of Eagle Scout including the late President Gerald Ford, director Steven Spielberg, Oregon Senator Gordon Smith, astronauts Jim Lovell and Neil Armstrong, singer-songwriter Lee Greenwood and adventurer Steven Fossett.

The Eagle Scout Recognition Banquet not only recognizes Eagle Scouts, but also raises money to support the council advancement program and heighten community awareness of some of the successes of the Scouting program.

Todd Construction has proudly presented the event for the past five years. Other corporate and individual sponsorship opportunities are available.

Additionally, one Eagle Scout is honored with a $2,500 college scholarship, while four runners-up receive $500 scholarships. High school seniors who have earned the rank of Eagle Scout and have a minimum 3.5 grade point average are eligible to apply. Application form available to download on this website: see Advancement and Recognition,
    Scholarships for details.

For additional details please contact the Council Service Center at 503.225.5748 or by email sstaudinger@cpcbsa.org.

    Relay For Life

District NewsThe University of Portland is hosting the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life on our campus this year, and we are looking for some volunteers to set up and take down tables, chairs, etc. for our Relay course. The Relay starts on April 11th at 6pm, so we would need a team of volunteers starting at about 4pm (or whenever they get out of school) and the Relay is 18 hours, ending at noon on the 12th, when we would need volunteers to help us take down the tables and chairs and clean-up around the academic quad/Relay course.

If you have any troops that are looking for community service hours, please have them contact me as soon as possible. It may seem like short notice, and I apologize, but if possible, we would like to have our volunteer crew confirmed by Tuesday of next week (the 8th).

Thank you so much, and on behalf of the Relay for Life planning committee, I really really appreciate your help with this event.

    Cub-O-Ree

District NewsDid you know Cub-O-Ree was held last weekend? This was one of the most unusual ones since it snowed up at Cub World during the activity. Not to mention the fact that it was mighty cold. But those who did come up got to enjoy fun activities:archery, BB guns, knot tying, lassoing a steer and den chief, not to mention a Pinewood Derby. Check out the pictures in the media gallery!

    ASA Bounce for Autism

    Dear Colleagues and Scouts:

Today, the Autism Society of America launched its new community-based event concept called "Bounce for Autism". I'm hopeful you will consider sharing this information with your friendship circles and possibly joining me for the Beaverton launch event on April 11!

Critical to our success will be the involvement of community groups like scouts. You can help in several ways:

1- post ASA Bounce for Autism event on your website

2-send out mass email to your network and personal contacts to get the word out

2-participate in the fundraising event Bounce for Autism and form a sock squad

3-volunteer to help assist at the event

    4-donate

This is a wonderful opportunity to serve your community. People of Autism are the most under served group in your community that need your help-

More details below and on our micro site: www.bounceforautism.org
