District:

A District is a geographic breakdown of the council.  The Pioneer District represents the areas of West Portland and Lake Oswego.  The District Committee serves as a sub-committee of the overall council board.  The goals of a District are to successfully support units through the following: membership, program, finance, and unit service.

The purpose of a council is to guide and support its districts in carrying out these four functions.  In doing so, the districts and council achieve the purpose and mission of the Boy Scouts of America.  Pioneer District is apart of the Cascade Pacific Council, covering NW Oregon and SW Washington.

Chartered Partners:

The Boy Scouts of America began in 1910 as an educational resource program.  In 1916, the BSA was chartered by US Congress.  The Boy Scouts of America charters community or religious organizations or groups to use Scouting as part of their service to their own members, as well as the community at large.

Volunteerism:

The Pioneer District Leadership has extensive background in all levels of Scouting. Volunteering at the District level provides a powerful and rewarding opportunity to serve your community.  District Leaders invite anyone with an interest to contact us today!
