The cross-country hike starts on the road near the adirondacks. Start walking on the road, going uphill away from camp. |
| |
|
 |
As you hike up the road you'll come to an intersection. The compass directions will tell you to turn left at this point. |

Now things start getting harder. The instructions say to go to the red bluff across the vally (blue arrow - click on the picture for an enlarged view).
There are actually up to three valleys to cross and at least one stream. There is no trail. |

 |
There are places the streams can be crossed without getting wet. Having a sturdy walking stick is VERY HELPFUL. (Hint, Hint - the log is slippery.)
In this picture he will first walk to the left on the log, then complete crossing the stream by walking to the right through the tall grass.

Once you are at the red bluff, there's still more to go. After a short hike through the woods, across a road, and into a new clear cut -- a second valley needs to be crossed. You need to get to where the yellow "X" is in this picture. Click on the picture for an enlarged view.
It's a tough hike. Plan on 3-4 hours to complete the total hike. |
